Trigger Warning

The third annual Denton Black Film Festival (DBFF) is a weekend long festival celebrating the diverse stories and culture of the black community through film, music and art. Whether you’re a film junkie or just interested in a few shorts, the Denton Black Film Festival will not only keep you entertained but reflective on some powerful topics. This festival offers a lineup perfect for the person inspired by the African-American community. The Denton Black Film Festival will be happening January 27-29, 2017. Viewers can expect to see featured narratives, documentaries, and shorts submitted by filmmakers nationwide and internationally. Screenings will be held at the historic Campus Theatre in downtown Denton. However, the DBFF will not just be limited to these great films. Feed more of that creativity with art and music. Main attractions and activities during the festival include a music concert on Saturday, January 28th, headlined by acclaimed jazz vocalist, Ashleigh Smith, a two week-long art exhibit featuring select works of Dallas visual artist, Christopher Blay, and a “Women In Entertainment” component. In addition to that, the DBFF will also have spoken word and comedy showcases, industry workshops and an artist mixer event. Harry Eaddy, festival director says “We are beyond thrilled at the success of our first two years. As we expand our reach to a national audience, our goal is to make DBFF an acclaimed platform for filmmakers from all over the world while maintaining our focus on building and sharing community here in Denton and North Texas at large”.
