“Port of shadows” (1938)  A military deserter arrives in a French port city (le Havre) where he later meets a terrified woman in a coffee shop. The story unravels as he discovers that she suspects her tutor of having killed a man she once loved…  Adaptation of Pierre McOrlan’s book. Third collaboration by  Marcel Carné with Jacques Prévert. Prix Louis-Delluc  1939 40 years after the death of Jean Gabin, the AFO is happy to present a cycle honouring his work in French cinema. Presented by our very own expert Maurice Graffin, member of the AFO board, each film will be introduced before the screening and discussed afterwards.Maurice has been involved in the cinematic world for quite a while now, and he specialises in French cinema. He is not only a film club and cinema festival organizer, but also a radio host of various programs, cinema critic for Radio-Canada and UNIQUE FM 94.5 and a jurist for the Ottawa Film festival.
