Join us for a look at two compelling exhibitions showcasing the work of renowned artists Andy Warhol and Xu Bing

Featuring nearly all of Warhol’s book projects, Warhol By the Book includes more than 250 objects that span five decades, including original artist books, illustrations, screen prints, paintings, and more. Explore how his career-long commitment to making and appreciating books was matched by his interest in questioning and experimenting with the way in which a book is presented to its readers.

Xu Bing: Book from the Sky is a monumental installation displayed in the form of books, hanging scrolls and wall panels. The enveloping words invite reading and appear to promise meaning, yet the texts cannot be read, as they are comprised of 4000 pseudo Chinese characters invented by the artist. By disengaging meaningful content from the written form, the artist exposes inherent ways in which language can be both vulnerable and culpable.
