Trigger Warning

i caught your scent before you appeared
my heart fluttered ever so slightly
dusted wings readying for flight
the roar of the sudden sun was deafening

i knew you’d sensed me

elaborate images assembled in my brain
a tango of the forbidden pulsing
in time with flesh

a stray breeze and there you are
i wonder who will ensnare whom
who is the butterfly
who the flower
