Tobias Seim is some guy who quit school, learned nothing, and now spends his time reading and writing. At least occasionally. Some of his stuff has appeared in A Thin Slice of Anxiety, Fixator Press, and oddball magazine.

Trigger Warning

the cause of personal big bang conserved in a malformed dome

my head is reduced to a snow globe
depicting nothing more
than this one scene

of us sitting together in this back room
like two innocent children on a pew
forced to listen to the tale of the original sin.

for the first time I had given
you a piece of paper
with some of my worst stuff
which, at the time,
was some of my best stuff.
and you sat there with
your seraphic aura and
read it
until
you finally
looked up
and said:
“this is really well written.”

that was it. the sparkle in your eyes
became the flash
from which
everything
originated,
including me
still
being alive
after all those years, still
sitting in the same back room
and jotting down these words.

and whenever I need a pause
from marveling at this precious
scene of the past
trapped within,
I give the thinking apparatus
on my neck
a good smack
to stir up
the dust
gathered
on all the discarded
memories of my former self.

and this measly snowfall
might not be much
but
it is enough
to cloud my mind
for a few minutes.

it is better than
shattering this battered sphere
altogether. at least for now.
