Trigger Warning

Heshima Kenya is the first and only organization devoted to protecting, nurturing, and empowering vulnerable refugee women and girls from East Africa. The young women in our programs have fled violence, terrorism, and have experienced unimaginable trauma. We provide a safe and healing community to empower refugee girls to become leaders in their own right. The Heshima Kenya Fashion Challenge, our annual fundraising gala, brings together business leaders, philanthropists, trendsetters in the fashion industry, media influencers and tastemakers of Chicago to enjoy a special celebration of fashion and philanthropy with a runway show highlighting our social enterprise, the Maisha Collective. Chicago designers will be tasked to create a unique look in just two weeks that incorporates Maisha scarves assigned at random. Prominent members of the Chicago fashion community will judge this Project Runway- inspired competition. The event will be held on the evening of April 27th, 2017 at the Chicago Cultural Center. Please join us for a one-of-a-kind fashion show where you can learn about Heshima’s impact serving East Africa’s most vulnerable refugee women and girls, participate in a paddle raise and take part in our very first silent auction!
