Trigger Warning
Speaking rhetorically, I asked Aunt Faye,
“How are you doing this beautiful day?”
“Oh, I’m so glad that you asked,” she replied,
“Please come up closer, right here by my side.”
Wrinkling her forehead, she said with a pout,
“I have arthritis, lumbago, and gout.
Naps are essential; I can’t sleep at night.
Blocking on words is an everyday plight.
“Hangnails and skin tags are constants for me.
Also, I’m plagued with a crick in my knee.
Headaches attack me at least once a week.
What’s more, a pimple just formed on my cheek.”
Much too much later she ended her spiel,
Asking me fervently, “How do you feel?”
I answered, “Fine, but I really must go.”
Next time I see her, I’ll just say, “Hello.”
