Trigger Warning
Her cat paw awakens me,
gently nudging my nose
to stir me.
My eyes open to find her near,
wanting some need that could not wait.
That is alright, I tell her,
moving off my bed.
I do not mind being disturbed
in the night.
I sit with her for awhile
in the dark, remembering
when I found her afraid and hungry,
waiting, like me,
for someone who cares.
