Ismael S. Rodriguez Jr. is a poet and writer shaped by lived experience, movement, and a steady gaze at power, survival, and what hums beneath the surface. He served in the United States Navy during Operation Desert Storm, working in a ship’s engine room in the Mediterranean—an apprenticeship in noise, heat, hierarchy, and moral ambiguity that continues to echo through his work. His writing attends to borders—physical, bureaucratic, and internal—and the quiet mechanics of endurance. His work appears in Down in the Dirt, Halfway Down the Stairs, Chiron Review, Nebo, Home Planet, and others. Based in Florida.
