Bio
Edward L. Canavan is a Los Angeles based poet whose work has most recently been published in Spillwords, Poetica, and Cholla Needles. His second poetry collection entitled “Protest and Isolation” was released by Cyberwit Press in July 2020. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, he currently resides in North Hollywood, California, where he practices Buddhism and listens to Brian Jonestown Massacre.

as reunion awaits
thoughts of perceived inevitabilities
distract from present possibilities
the mind has its way
but the heart ventures forth
balance is key
endurance is essential
wear your brokenness
like a badge of honor
emerging from the darkness
of past endeavor
fully prepared
for either torture
or reward
and unwaveringly accepting
of whichever may arrive.
