Trigger Warning

Exaltation

Miss Hooker is going to be my wife one
day, she’s my Sunday School teacher, and through
her I’ll get to Heaven and see Jesus
and God and the Holy Ghost and so forth
but point is that she’s the one who will
save my soul and she’s starting even now
here on earth and me only 10 to her
25 and if she isn’t a gift
from God then I don’t know anything, which
I don’t but that’s not the point so after
class today I formally proposed and
even on my knees–I proposed to her,
Miss Hooker I mean, marriage I mean, and
she said yes but with the condition that
I ask her again when I’m of age just
to make sure that she’s still interested
so that’s what I’ll do,, I’ll ask her when I’m
16 to her 31 and if she
turns me down, maybe because she’s married
by then, I’ll tell her I’ll be happy to
wait until she’s free again and if she’s
never free then I’ll be satisfied since
if I can’t have the one I love the most
then I won’t choose anyone at all, which
is pretty downright stupid when you think
on it but then there’s something to be said
about being too much the idealist
which is kind of like saying you’re dead
already but so will be Miss Hooker
and her choice of beau. Watch me exalt ’em
and come out on top anyway. Jesus.
