like a star
i shine only at night
never born as a lady of light
in sun i do fade
to a barely-seen shade
but it’s all right
it’s all right

in the dark
i am strong and secure
in the light i can barely endure
give me shadow and smoke
as my everyday cloak
it’s my allure
my allure

would you be
with me then after all
does the darkness to you also call
if you’re that kind of man
come and capture my hand
and we’ll stand tall
we’ll stand tall
